Today, the Government of Ontario made regulatory amendments which extend the effective period of temporary legislative provisions permitting corporations to call and hold meetings virtually, as applicable, notwithstanding certain restrictions or requirements. The effective period of these temporary legislative provisions has now been extended from September 30, 2022 to September 30, 2023.
The ministry continues to explore potential comprehensive permanent changes under these statutes that better reflect the digital age and allow for broader participation, the effective period of the temporary legislative provisions for virtual meetings has been extended until September 30, 2023.
The ministry will publicly communicate any updates, as appropriate.
The “trend” of hosting meetings virtually really isn’t a trend anymore. Condominium Corporations are expected to continue with electronic meetings simply because:
