On September 2, 2022 George Shalamay, President and CEO, met with MPP Honorable Deepak Anand to discuss current challenges facing Condominium Management industry which impact the owners/residents living in Mississauga Malton
It was noted that both CAO, CMRAO, ACMO and CCI as well as private management companies made a considerable progress to find ways of encouraging condominium owners to look on their homes as part of self-governing communities and to accept some responsibilities to make those communities enhance the condominium lifestyle. Education of owners and residents is the central point to address some of the concerns owners may have due to the wrong assumptions and lack of education of how the key parts of the condominium framework works. The review of some of the concerned owners requests shows that condo owners feel disconnected from their condominium corporation, boards and management. At times, the owners do not understand how decisions are made and how they are executed and monitored. It was noted that the issue of the board transparency and accountability is being well-addressed by CAO dispute settlement process which really works. It was also discussed how achieve better and harmonious relationships between condo development companies and owners-elected board of directors.Licensing program that has been put in place over the past 5 years ensured that condo managers across the province are properly trained and qualified.
